Today we’re gonna learn 5 ways

to say “I’m busy”.

All right,

let’s get started with the lesson.

Our first alternative phrase is,

“I’m all booked up”

or

“I’m fully booked up”.

If someone is booked up,

they have made so many arrangements

that they have no more time to do things.

So what about tomorrow at 5?

I’m so sorry

I’m all booked up this week.

How about next Thursday?

Our second phrase is quite informal.

It is,

“I’m swamped.

If you are swamped,

you’ve got so much work on,

you are so busy,

there’s no time or room for anything else.

Hey, look!

I’ve got my nails done.

What do you think?

Aw, I love it!

I haven’t had any time for myself recently.

I’ve been so swamped with work!

The third one:

“I’ve got a lot to do,”

or

“I’ve got so much to do.

So if we’ve got a lot to do

or so much to do,

we are incredibly busy.

Clean the house,

Hit the gym,

Buy groceries,

Record videos,

Edit,

Order pizza

Oh this one is good!

What a day!

I’ve got so much to do!

And our fourth phrase is:

I’ve got a lot on my plate.

This means that I’ve got lots to think about,

lots of tasks,

lots of responsibilities.

It generally is used to describe a negative,

overwhelming emotion.

So, in February

I’ll start my new position,

and I’ll have a lot more on my plate,

like,

what should I wear?

The Fifth phrase which is the last one,

I’m up to my ears

in or with something

It means to be very busy,

or to have

more of something than you can manage

John doesn’t have any time

to come to the game with us.

He’s up to ears with work!

But I think he is lying!
