there are many ways to greet people in English

depending on the setting ,dialect and personal preference

you probably want to be somewhere in the middle

Another way to greet someone

is with good morning

and good afternoon

or maybe good evening

depending on the time of the day.

Dropping the word good, makes it much more casual

and with intonation

How’s it is popular in informal South African English.

British people sometimes use “cheers”

to say goodbye or thank you.

“Alright” is also common in British English

especially between younger people.

The speaker isn’t really asking if you’re alright

it’s just a greeting

like saying

how are you or how do you do

while you’re shaking hands with someone

They may answer “Thank you”

Or “very well”

but this is optional

you can just say the line back
