Have you heard the word ain’t?

Do you know what it means?

It’s the short form of am not

is not

are not

has not

have not

and some other things

but these are the most common ones.

Let’s take a look at some examples:

You’re not gonna like this.

You ain’t gonna like this.

Is that all you got?

You haven’t seen nothing yet!

She hasn’t done nothing wrong.

She ain’t done nothing wrong.

I should mention that of course

“nothing” should technically be used in positive sentences.

but these expressions, although ungrammatical

are extremely common among native speakers

in informal conversations.

I ain’t gonna do that.
