It’s is the short form of It is in the simple present tense.

For example:

It is a car: It’s a car.

It is a sunny day: It’s a sunny day.

If you want to make “it is” in a contracted form, you can remove “I” in “is” and use an apostrophe instead of that removed “I”.

It’s is also the short form of it has, in such sentences:
